Reconnecting with Creativity, Healing, and Grounded Self-Care
In this empowering episode of the Bring Me 2 Life Podcast…
After a long winter, we felt it was time to slow down and reconnect—not just with each other, but with you, our listeners and creative friends. In this conversation, we look back on the past few months and share honestly about how we’ve managed the heaviness of the world while still staying grounded, creative, and connected to what matters most.
Like so many people, we’ve felt the weight of nonstop news and events. Sometimes it’s just too much, and we’ve learned how important it is to step back, take a breath, and make space for rest and reflection. In this episode, we talk honestly about how stepping away from the noise has helped us process what’s happening and reconnect with the things that truly nourish us.
For Shannon, that reconnection has been deeply rooted in creativity.
Writing The Healing Muse
Behind the scenes, Shannon’s been pouring her heart into her new book, The Healing Muse. She dives into how creativity can help us heal—whether we’re working through grief, going through big changes, or just trying to find our way back to joy.
Art has always helped us turn our feelings into something real. Through painting, storytelling, and creative play, Shannon shares how making art can help us move through tough times and also celebrate the beauty in life.
As the book comes together, Shannon will be sharing sneak peeks and reflections on her Substack, as part of the Mindfulness Collaboratory at Pratt University. It’s become a special place to explore mindfulness, creativity, and community with others who believe in the power of making art on purpose.
Returning to Creative Community
We’re also bringing back Muse Mondays—a creative gathering for reflection, inspiration, and reconnecting with our inner creative voice. We’ll have more info to share soon, with updates coming around March 6th.
These spaces are all about helping people slow down, breathe, and rediscover that creative spark that sometimes gets lost in the rush of everyday life.
Supporting Stories That Want to Be Shared
This season has also been about helping others bring their stories to life. Shannon’s been supporting Selomon’s mom as she starts her own book and podcast—showing just how powerful it can be when people are encouraged to share what they’ve lived through.
Helping others find their voice and share their story is a big part of why we do this. Every story holds wisdom, and when we share them, healing and connection can ripple out in ways we never expected.
What’s Happening in the Studio
Meanwhile, the creative energy in the studio has been flowing, too. Shannon talks about what’s exciting her most right now, from thoughts on a recent art sale to the ongoing adventure of making new work.
Two pieces—Cardinal Rising and Stag Guardian—have really resonated with collectors. There are still a few limited-edition canvas prints available if one of them speaks to you.
We also chat about what inspired the Zodiac Series—a project that’s been both expansive and a joy to create. Each piece explores the energy and symbolism of a zodiac sign, blending intuitive painting with layered mixed media.
The series has turned into a playful exploration of symbolism, color, and personal mythology. Shannon shares a bit about the materials and creative process behind each piece.
Selomon’s Work with the Mindfulness Collaboratory
Selomon also shares what he’s been up to in the Mindfulness Collaboratory—working on new meditation practices and finding plenty of creative inspiration from the community there.
Meditation and mindfulness are still at the heart of how we stay grounded—especially when things feel uncertain or overwhelming. These practices are simple ways to come back to our bodies, our breath, and the present moment.
Keep an eye out for new meditations and creative reflections from Selomon coming soon.
Supporting Creative Work
Something we kept coming back to in our conversation: it means so much to support artists and creators in real, simple ways. Leaving a comment, sharing someone’s work, or just showing up can make a huge difference.
If you want to stay connected with Shannon’s artwork, writing, or upcoming creative gatherings, you can sign up for the newsletter at ShannonShine.com or follow along on social media.
These small connections help create a supportive, creative community where art, healing, and storytelling can really flourish.
Returning to the Studio
As we wrap up, we take a moment to ground ourselves before diving back into our creative work. Sometimes the best thing we can do is listen to that quiet nudge calling us back to creating.
For Shannon, that means heading back into the studio—where new paintings, fresh ideas, and sparks of inspiration are already waiting.
