I woke up from a loud crash and ducked under the window. Light flashed in for a second lighting up the bedroom I was in. Just as quickly, it all disappeared leaving me alone in the darkness.

My heart was pounding. It took me several minutes to realize that it was a storm raging outside. Out the window lightning struck way off in the distance. The thunder rolled in after thirty seconds shaking the house slightly. The sweat surrounding me began giving me chills.

I wasn’t willing to turn the lights on and risk being seen, so I let the fleeting moments of light help me to move from one wall to another. My bag was leaning against one of the walls packed and ready to go at a moment's notice. I double checked it to make sure everything was secure. From there I found my way to the bathroom which had some towels hanging off the far wall.

My hand moved from the wall and instead of another wall my hand went through the shower curtain, and I stumbled. I thought I was going to smack my head off of something, but instead I landed gently in the tub on my back. It almost felt like I was floating on a cloud or something.

I got up and found a towel to dry off the sweat. There was a sunroof above me that looked like a big tv playing a movie about a giant storm. Sometimes the lightning would strike a few miles away and the house would shake from the thunder. I wondered what reality would look like once it was over.

I moved and watched the storm out of the bedroom window for a while. Something about it gave me peace. Until I saw something in the sky.

There was a big bright circle hovering in the sky in the middle of the storm. It was the only light that was constant. I felt like it was a giant eye in the sky, and it looked right at me. But for some reason it faded behind a cloud. I watched for a few hours before my tiredness overcame me and I passed out.
