Spirit Garden: To Cleanse & Recharge in Gratitude
Meandering through semi-spiritual isles at the local 5 Below, I stopped dead in my tracks. My head snapped to the right and all else faded. My eyes, my heart were set on the mini zen garden peacefully residing on the shelf now in front of me. It took everything in me not to tear up to the registers in that second.
Sometimes the small things such as this can strike inspiration and creativity. I wandered through the isle and found a second version of the garden. A zen garden with white sand and a mini Buddha statue and one of fine grain Himalayan salt. I then remembered a miniature Buddha statue I had recently found at a spiritual shop in Greensburg (where I am currently attending college). I decided to fuel that spark of inspiration and create my very own garden. One that I could customize and feel a deeper connection with.
I now use this as a centerpiece on my altar to cleanse and charge my crystals as well as bring in peace and gratitude. I spend a few minutes each morning and evening meditating, praying, singing, or simply admiring the space in honor of my beliefs and guides.
Here’s how I did it and how you too can create your own Spirit Garden!
SUPPLIES
Salt or sand (color and type of choice)
I chose fine grain Himalayan salt to have a sandy texture with cleansing/healing properties.
Dish or bowl of choice
I found this perfect dipped plate at the dollar store!
Crystals, statues, miniature decorations… Get creative! Use what you have and what represents you and your spirituality! There is no need to go buy brand new things, especially if you have objects/tools that you already have a connection with.
Crystals: I chose a chakra crystal set along with amethyst, strawberry quartz, and carnelian (for extra charging energy). These were all crystals I already had.
Statue: I have a baby clear quartz Ganesha. :)
Decorations: I later added acorns that I found outside along with a motley of other goodies.
How to make it:
Set the mood! Put on some music, adjust the lighting (I prefer candles, but cannot use them at college so instead used fairy lights), make some tea, cacao, coffee, whatever!
Pour as much or as little salt/sand into the container as desired.
Play with the salt/sand that you just poured into the container. Maybe infuse your intentions, gratitude, emotion, etc. into the granules as you make designs!
Customize! This is when I added the crystals, statue, and anything else. I have been also using the spare space to cleanse crystals that I used during the day.
It doesn’t have to be complicated, it doesn’t have to be expensive, it simply has to be yours.
I bless this space and I send gratitude and blessings out to you as you continue to create along your journey!
