3 Films at the 2026 Chicago International Film Festival

Profiles in courage are a common theme in cinema, and they can take many different inspiring forms. At this year’s recently completed Chicago International Film Festival, now in its 62nd edition, a number of selections effectively addressed this very notion, spotlighting the experiences of individuals who took it upon themselves to engage in heroic acts of courage in different milieus despite imposing odds.

Three of these films not only explored these ideas, but they also provided viewers with stirring entertainment in the process – “Liz Here Now” from the US, “A Bit of Light” from Iran, and “Elsinore,” a multinational co-production. Find out more in reviews of these three titles in the next edition of The Cinema Scribe.
